Baseball Giveth and Baseball Taketh Away

The baseball gods are a fickle bunch.  Take the Indians recently concluded six game road-trip.

The Tribe opened the season in Arlington and swept a three game series from the Rangers.  The Tribe scored twenty-one runs, slugged five homers in the series and hit .250 with runners in scoring position. There was more than enough optimism as the Indians went to Phoenix to open up a three game weekend series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.  That's when the baseball gods decided to take a turn.

As good as the Indians looked in Arlington, they were just as bad in Phoenix.  The Tribe pitching staff allowed twenty-one runs in the three games, the offense could only muster a home run and seven runs scored the entire weekend and the Tribe was a dismal .160 (4-25) with runners in scoring position.

Now, what's the lesson that we fans can take from the first week of the baseball season?  That's simple.  The Tribe isn't as good as they looked against Texas, nor are they as bad as they looked against Arizona.  They are somewhere in between.  Hopefully, they are closer to Texas than Arizona...
