Teacher Arrested After Allegedly Hosting "Fight Club" For Students

Substitute teacher arrested after creating 'fight club' for students

A 23-year-old substitute teacher is in jail after allegedly running a "fight club" for students at Montville High School in Connecticut.

Ryan Fish was charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, second-degree breach of peace, and four counts of second-degree reckless endangerment. Fish was fired on October 10th after the assistant principal learned about the fights.

Brian Levesque, the superintendent of schools wrote when he saw the initial video about the fight club's "so-called 'student slapping horseplay,'" he didn't feel it was a law enforcement matter. Levesque wrote, "Had I known then, what I know now, yes, I should have contacted police.”

The superintendent said no students were serious injured, however, the arrest warrant affidavit indicated that one student suffered a blood nose, another began vomiting during a fight, and a third student showed signs of emotional trauma.

The affidavit says the school's assistant principal, Tatiana Patten suspected the existence of the "fight club" showing police cellphone video from one of the alleged fights.

When interviewed by police, Fish reportedly told investigators that "I'm an idiot" and he just wanted to be friends with the students.

Fish's bail was set at $75,000 and will have to return to  court on May 8th.
