MLB Will Host Game At 'Field Of Dreams' Between The Yankees And White Sox

The House Where The Movie Field Of Dreams Was Filmed

The iconic baseball field built in a cornfield in Dyersville, Iowa for the movie Field of Dreams will be the site of a Major League Baseball game in 2020 between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox.

The game will take place on August 13, 2020 and will mark the first professional game played in the state of Iowa. MLB will construct an 8,000-seat ballpark at the century-old farm to host the game. The small ballpark will be designed to pay homage to Comiskey Park, where the White Sox played from 1910-1990.

"As a sport that is proud of its history linking generations, Major League Baseball is excited to bring a regular-season game to the site of Field of Dreams," commissioner Rob Manfred said. "We look forward to celebrating the movie's enduring message of how baseball brings people together at this special cornfield in Iowa."

To announce the historic game, MLB recreated one of the iconic scenes from the film, replacing "Shoeless" Joe Jackson with Yankees superstar Aaron Judge. Judge walks onto the field and asks, "Is this Heaven?" to which Kevin Costner replies, "No, this is Iowa." Judge then nods and continues to run onto the field.
