MLB Says Male Sexual Enhancement Drugs Could Trigger Positive PED Tests

Giants vs Mets

Major League Baseball officially issues a warning about the risk of over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills, according to Jeff Passan. The memo was sent Monday where two players who were suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs claimed the substance came from the products.

According to Passan, the use of over-the-counter sexual-enhancement pills is prevalent among players and the pills are often purchased at gas stations. Here is the report

"Sexual or male enhancement products present a very real risk for drug-tested players," the memo said. "The high likelihood for contamination or unidentified ingredients in these products underscores the importance of consuming only those products that are NSF Certified for Sport."

PED-testing has included drugs intended for sexual or reproductive purposes in other sports as well. MMA fighter Jon Jones was suspended for taking male-enhancement pills a few years ago. It's worth noting that Jones's explanation was that he didn't figure checking because it wasn't needed because it had nothing to do with sport performance.
