If you think it’s taking too long for the Cincinnati Bengals to hire a head coach, it’s not because the Bengals organization is so bad at recognizing talent.
It’s because the Rams organization is so good at it
Which is why Cinci may need to wait until the Rams lose a playoff game before they can hire the man they are eyeing for the job—Los Angeles quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor who ESPN reported yesterday is their top choice for the vacant head coaching position.
The Bengals would like to hire the 35-year-old Taylor after the Rams season ends. Because the Rams are still in playoffs, they can't negotiate a contract.
Taylor was the offensive coordinator for the University of Cincinnati in 2016, and sources said he would like to return to the city.
And considering Taylor oversaw Jared Goff and the Rams to a 13-3 record with the fifth best passing offense in the NFL—the Bengals would like him to return as well
