Pirates Hire Cherington To Be Next General Manager

The Pirates have hired Ben Cherington to be their general manager.

He will be introduced at a news conference today at PNC Park.

Cherington was the GM for the Red Sox from 2011 to 2015, where he succeeded Theo Epstein.

He helmed the team that won the 2013 World Series.

He replaces Neal Huntington, who was fired after a 12-year stint with the team.
